1. 인생을 살아가는 데에는 두 가지 길이 있다. 인생에 어떠한 기적도 없다며 살아가는 인생길이 있으며, 그 모든 것이 기적이라고 생각하며 살아가는 인생길도 있다.
There are two ways to live : you can live as if nothing is a miracle (or), you can live as if everything is a miracle.
2. 나에게는 자연의 기본적 원리를 발견하고자 할 때 어떠한 논리적인 방법으로 한 것이 결코 아니다. 내가 진리를 발견하는 것은 오직 직관에 의한 것이다. 사물의 겉모습 뒤에 있는 질서(본질)에서 무언가 전해져 오는 감각, 즉 직관에 의해서다.
There is no logical way to the discovery of these elemental laws.There is only the way of intuition, which is helped by a feeling for the order lying behind the appearance.
3. 창조적인 예술가의 특질이랄까.도저히 저항할 수 없는 충동으로 진정한 예술은 탄생한다.
True art is characterized by an irresistible urge in the creative artist.
4. 진정한 종교는 현실의 삶이다. 모든 인간 영혼의 선량함과 올바름과 함께 하는 것이다.
True religion is real living: living with all one's soul, with all one's goodness and righteousness.
5. 성공한 사람이 되기 위해 노력하기보다는, 가치있는 사람이 되기 위해 노력하라.
Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.
6. 새로운 문제, 가능성(해답)을 찾아내기 위해서는, 새로운 관점으로 오래된 문제를 바라보는 태도가 필요하다. 그리하여 창조적인 상상력으로 진정한 과학적 진보를 이룬다.
To raise new questions, new possibilities, to regard old problems from a new angle, requires creative imagination and marks real advance in science.
7. 성공하려면 먼저 그 게임의 규칙을 배워야 한다. 그 다음 어느 누구보다 그 놀이에 몰입하여 놀이 자체를 즐겨야 한다.
You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.
8. 세계는 살아가기에 위험한 곳이다. 사악한 사람들 때문이 아니라, 惡에 대해 아무런 행동도 취하지 않는 사람들 때문이다.
The world is a dangerous place to live : not because of the people who are evil. but because of the people who don't do anything about it.
9. 마음(직관)이 지식보다 더 높은 경지일 때가 있다. 그러나 그게 어떻게 그렇게 되었는지를 증명할 수는 없다. (마음, 즉 直觀의 天才성을 갈파한 말)
There comes time when the mind takes a higher plane of knowledge but can never prove how it got there.
10. 나 자신과 내 생각의 체계에 대해 엄밀히 살펴볼 때면, 나에게는 그 어떤 추상하는 재능이나 적극적생각보다도 타고난 상상력이 더 큰 의미가 있었다는 결론에 도달하게 된다.
When I examine myself and my methods of thought,I come to the conclusion that the gift of fantasy has meant more to me than any talent for abstract, positive thinking.
11. 누구나 진리와 지식의 심판관으로 자기 자신을 내세우지만, 그 확신은 神의 웃음소리에 의해 난파(難破)된다.
Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of gods.
12. 두 가지만이 무한하다. 宇宙와 人間의 어리석음이다. 그러나 우주의 무한함에는 확신하지는 못한다.
Two things are infinite : the universe and human stupidity, and I am not sure about universe.
13. 사물들은 가능한 한 단순하게 구성된다. 그 이상 단순할 수가 없다 (사물의 본질이 가장 단순).
Things should be made as simple as possible, but not any simpler.
14. 우리는 문제를 생각해냈을 때의 구태의연한 생각으로는 그 문제를 풀 수가 없다.
We can't solve our problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.
15. 인류가 계속해서 살아남기 위해서는 상당한 새로운 사고방식이 요구된다.
We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive.
16. 예쁜 소녀와 연애하고 있을 때에는 1시간이 마치 1초처럼 흘러간다.뜨거운 숯불 위에 앉아 있을 때에는 1초가 마치 1시간처럼 흘러간다.그것이 相對性 이론이다.

17. 우리라는 존재가 인간이기 때문에 우리는 인간성에 대해 절망할 수는 없다.
We cannot despair about humanity, since we ourselves are human beings.
18. 우리는 아직도 자연이 우리에게 보여주는 모습의 1000분의 1도 모르고 있다.
We still do not know one thousandth of one percent of what nature has revealed to us.
19. 나는 상상력을 자유롭게 끌어내는 예술가일 게다. 상상력은 지식보다 중요하다.지식은 제한되고 갇혀 있지만, 상상력은 온 천지를 날아다닌다.
I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination,imagination is more important than knowledge, Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.
20. 오직 유일한 소중한 가치가 있는 능력은 直觀이다.
The only real valuable thing is intuition.
21. 나는 특별한 재능을 갖고 있지 않다. 나는 오직 열정으로 가득 찬 호기심을 갖고 있을 뿐이다.
I have no special talent, I am only passionately curious.
